The NEWEST Sea Kayaking Symposium on the DORSET Coast

19th - 21st May 2022

In partnership with

Hello paddlers

We hope you are well and looking forward to the 2nd edition of Springboard to Summer. We're looking forward to having you join us for a fantastic weekend of sea kayaking on the Jurassic Coast in Dorset.

The Ethos
The weekend is all about great people, in a great place, making good decisions and having fun on the water. It's not about you pushing yourself to the limits, getting out of comfort zones etc. and expecting others to look after you.

This is a dangerous approach to have on the sea at the best of times and typically doesn't make for a nice day out. We will have a range of trips to suit all levels of experience, obviously shaped by the weather conditions over the weekend.

These are peer paddles undertaken at your own risk and our wonderful, volunteer guides are on hand to show you the best bits of our spectacular coastline and help you make decisions about what trips will be best for you.

Sea kayaking is an assumed risk activity so participants should be responsible for their own actions and involvement.

Location
The campsite is located close to Corfe Castle at Burnbake Campsite. This venue is easily accessible from the A351, from Wareham take the left turn at Corfe Castle towards Studland, follow the road for about 2 miles and you’ll see the sign for Burnbake to the left, continue following the signs until you reach the site.

Trips

We will have the trips available for you to book onto on the Friday evening - we'll havethe accurate weather forecasts which will allow us to put some great adventures on for you.

This saves loads of time rather than making the choices now and then having to change

them due to the weather.

Food and drink

There will be a BBQ included on Saturday evening provided by the awesome 'Tipsy Tow Bar', please bring your own drinks as there is no bar on site.

We are always trying to reduce our event waste so with this in mind please bring a plate, knife, fork etc... This saves lots of single use waste being generated.

A camp chair would also be a good idea for sitting down to enjoy your meal and for evening talk.

There is also a on site there is a snack shack open in the mornings and evenings.

Evening Enterainment

We have local kayaker Nigel John joining us for the weekend. On Saturday evening he’s going to share with us his sea kayaking adventure to visit the island of Kefalonia in Greece.
